Dorothy Decima Millman (aka Dolly)
December 12, 1896 — July 11, 1982
Born the youngest of ten — and the only girl — her middle name “Decima” was was most fitting (‘deca’ meaning ten in Greek). She won the 1920 womens golf championship of Ontario, loved playing bridge, was a great swimmer (spending winters in Bermuda), and held varied positions, including bookkeeper and bank clerk.
We never met, but I’m enamoured with the stories I’ve heard about her life. Embodying classic elegance, she always wore a dress, and had an impeccable collection of cherished belongings. She is my great grandmother-in-law, and passed away the very day my fiancé was born. Passed down from her, to her only daughter, and now to me, I cherish her century old wedding ring.
Dolly is the inspiration behind this first collection.
